Our Schedule
Consistency. Customers demand it. We understand it.
Our crew will show up to mow your lawn on the day we’re supposed to.
Terms
Weekly and bi-weekly mowing customers agree to a six mow minimum. You may cancel service at any time once the six mow minimum has been met. If you cancel service before the six mow minimum has been met, we will charge the one time rate for all the mows you’ve already taken, which is $10 extra per mow. We automatically assume your business next spring unless you contact us to cancel mowing service.
Season Start and End
For clients who take both weekly mowing and our fertilizer & weed control service and have never skipped a cut, we begin the season with a spring scalp. For these clients, we don't charge extra for the spring scalp, even though it takes about 8X as long as a regular mow.
For 2007, our regular service starts on March 12th and ends on November 9th. Weekly mowing clients are automatically converted to every other week on October 12th due to slower growth.
First Mow
Usually, we are able to mow the lawn the first time for the normal price. However, if we show up for the very first lawn mowing and the lawn is too overgrown to mow in the normal amount of time, we will have to charge by the hour for the first lawn mowing. After that, each lawn mowing will be the normal price as long as you stay on our service.
What’s Included?
Our lawn mowing service consists of mowing all lawn areas, edging all concrete edges with a blade edger, line trimming along all borders and dispersing all clippings with our blowers.
What’s Not Included?
We do not rake leaves for free. If you have large deciduous trees that produce a lot of leaf drop in the winter, and you don’t get it cleaned up, we will not clean it up for free when we return in the spring for the first lawn mowing. We will simply run our mowers over the leaves and disperse them to the best of our abilities with our blowers. Over time, with each mow, the leaves will become less noticeable. Please don’t expect our crews to do a leaf clean-up for free. If you would like to have us clean your leaves, we are available at our normal hourly rates.
We do not clean flower beds with a routine lawn mowing. If you would like to have us control the weeds in the beds when we are there to mow the lawn, you may be interested in our bed weed control service.
We do not bag clippings for our customers, but if the grass is clumping in the lawn when we mow, we will disperse those clippings with our blowers. When we’re done, you won’t be able to tell the clippings weren’t bagged. The lawn will look clean.
Bi-Weekly Service
In order for a lawn to look nice, it needs to be on a program of regular fertilization and be mowed once a week. If you want to have a nice lawn, you need to pay for weekly service.
Because it’s cheaper, many of our customers only want to have their lawn mowed every other week. We’re glad to take on bi-weekly mowing clients. However, we only take on bi-weekly mowing clients who agree to no fertilizer for five months of the year…April, May, June, July & August.
We’ve even developed an optional weed control plan specifically for our bi-weekly customers to ensure that this doesn't happen.
Surprises
When we quote a price for lawn mowing, it’s based on square footage and assumes a fairly open, flat lawn. The price we quote over the phone is the right price 95% of the time. However, if we show up and you’ve got obstacles everywhere, or if your lawn has a steep hill or a lot of retaining walls that create more work, our crew will mow your lawn on the first trip at the quoted price (provided it's not over grown). We will then contact you and let you know of the price increase. If you agree, we’ll continue service. If you disagree, we’ll waive our six mow minimum and take you off the schedule.
Skipping
Sometimes customers call us to skip mows so they can save money when the lawn isn't growing very fast. If you call to skip a scheduled mow, your next mow will be the bi-weekly rate, which is $3 extra. For bi-weekly clients, the charge is $5 extra. Bi-weekly clients are only permitted to skip during extreme summer drought conditions. If we spend too much time on the mow after a skip because the grass is too tall or thick, we will charge our houry rates.
If you want to skip a mow, we need to be notified by 3:00pm the day before.
We ask that all clients keep their skip requests to 2 or less per year. Clients who skip cuts will be removed from the spring scalp schedule.
Sprinkler Heads
In the event that we accidentally damage a sprinkler head, call us within a week and we will repair it.
Landscape Lights
If you have landscape lights installed in your beds, we shouldn't have any problems. However, if they're installed in the lawn, our line trimmers will likely damage them. We accept no responsibility for damage to landscape lights if they're installed in the lawn.
Gates
If you want to keep your gate locked, its best if you use a combo lock and provide us with the combo. If the gate is locked when we arrive, we will not mow the back lawn. We do not discount our price if we're unable to mow the back lawn. If you call us, we'll return as soon as we can.
Pools
Pools create extra work for our crews. Even though there is less grass to mow, pools take more time because there is more to edge and trim. We also have to be careful to avoid getting too many clippings in the pool. Its impossible to service a pool account and not get any clippings in the pool, but we do work hard to minimize the mess. If you install a pool, we won’t raise your mowing price, but we won’t lower it either. |
